Stack of yellow books with smiley face on cover, book title "The Happiness of Coaching: Inspiring Stories from the World’s Happiest Coaches", and an orchid behind

Once upon a time…

In 2023, coaches met at the World Happiness Summit (@wohasu) in Como, Italy. Coincidentally, that year’s theme was “connection”. And indeed, some wonderful connections were made. One inspiring and committed individual took this theme particularly to heart, Tabby Kerwin. She is a coach, trainer, best-selling author, and founder of the Mode for… publishing house, and she brought us together to co-write a book on the happiness of coaching.

Excitement and doubt

When Tabby offered me to contribute with a chapter, I got truly excited. What an amazing opportunity and experience! Then I sat with all the feelings and thoughts that emerged, it looked a bit like this:

🫣But I am not one of the world’s happiest coaches…

🫤What do I have to say about happiness?

😵‍💫What am I going to write about?

😅How can I bring value to the world through this chapter?

The sitting took a few months, during one of the hardest times of my life. And then suddenly 💡the inspiration all came pouring… and it was crystal clear, and it was always right inside me… and the chapter wrote itself in just a few hours. And it felt aligned and authentic, vulnerable and courageous, and worth existing (in my humble opinion)🥹

Right after submitting my chapter, I read this validating quote:

“You don’t have a leg up on becoming a happiness specialist by being blessed with natural well-being. On the contrary, naturally happy people almost never study happiness, because to them, it doesn’t seem like something one needs to study, or even think much about. It would be like studying air. The truth is that I write, speak, and teach about happiness precisely because it’s naturally hard for me, and I want more of it.” Arthur C. Brooks in the book “Build the life you want”

What to expect in this book

Let me tell you what this book is NOT about… toxic positivity, pink glasses, happy-go-lucky-pretend-life-is-always-so-happy. To the contrary! This book is filled with the personal and inspiring stories of 17 wonderful women, all professional coaches. And the common theme is “how they chose happiness in the face of adversity, grief, hardship, illness, and many other difficult paths”.

What I love about this book is how each chapter is unique and yet offers a facet to the universality of what we do as coaches and why we do it. A beautiful and coherent patchwork, where you will undoubtedly find gems that resonate with your own life… 💎

In this book, you’ll read personal and moving stories where coaching became a calling to heal oneself as much as helping the world. You will also get practical tools and perspective shifts you can directly apply in your life.

Most importantly, this book offers you the evidence that HAPPINESS can be CHOSEN despite – or thanks to – life’s adversities. If that’s too hard of a task on your own, you have the contact details of 17 professional coaches who will wholeheartedly support you on your journey.

A book to keep close by and go back to when in need of hope and action-taking…
